Free Jazz & Spiritual Jazz

Back with more Spiritual Jazz & Free Jazz this update, an occasion usually appreciated by both Record Mania employees as well as customers. It's always a good combination to have records in stock that can calm our hectic Fridays, and some that should only be played out in a store that for some reason wouldn't want to attract more customers.

In the Spiritual section we have interesting titles like "Deep Stream" by Dawan Muhammad, Sun Ra's "Nuclear War", "Levels of Consciousness" with Babatunde and Phenomena, Roy Brooks' legendary "Black Survival" and one that we hardly need to write anything about but still feel we should:
Pharoah Sanders' "Pharoah" on India Navigation. It's been a long time favourite here, but we haven't had an original copy of this since the reissue (which has been in constant rotation since it came out) was released. Highly recommended! If you miss out on this one, the reissue is currently out of stock but should be replenished soon.

The Free Jazz department brings wild stuff of different kinds, like Igor Wakhevitch - "Logos", the monster "Alabama Feeling" by Arthur Doyle, "Instant Composers Pool" with Han Bennink, Misha Mengelberg and John Tchicai on the ICP label (that's not the Insane Clown Posse, although some similarities might exist?), plus nice stuff by Steve Lacy, Elton Dean, Marc Lewin and more.

Check the pictures below for examples of the rarer stuff or see all of this week's new arrivals in our New In Stock-section.
