Weekly Update 27/2 - Blue Note and 50s Jazz + Rock

Right in time for the best record fair of the year (Saturday 28/2, Solnahallen - more info: www.sunjay.se) we bring a quite substantial update of Blue Note & 50s Jazz, spiced up with Rock. The latter consists of everything from Swedish Prog, to classic US psych / rock and some surprising newer stuff from the 90s and 00s you might not have thought to see here!

In the Jazz section you'll find some really nice LPs like Duke Jordan's "Flight to Jordan", J.R Monterose's "BLP 1536" and Donald Byrd's "Fuego". The non-Blue Notes consist of great titles like "Out there" by Eric Dolphy and Sonny Rollins' "Saxophone colossus".

We've been graced with a bunch of fine Rock LPs to sell as well, and ranges from madness like Faust, to hot fuzz like Afreaka! and a personal favourite - "Thunder on a clear day" by Twentieth Century Zoo - back to mellow sounds from Rodriguez ("Cold fact"), Cumulus and Batteaux.
Don't miss several interesting Nordic and Scandinavian titles like Pelican and Trubrot from Iceland, and The Aller Vaerste from Norway.

And for a change of vintage, we actually have some newer Rock . How about the classic "Odelay" by Grammy winner Beck, a couple of White Stripes, British heroes Oasis and The Verve, sad man Nick Cave, the charming Phoenix, Sonic Youth, Radiohead and Swedish favourite Jose Gonzalez (don't miss his new LP, now in stock!).

Disco, boogie and modern soul!

Modern soul/boogie/disco time again! A vast amount of great 70s and 80s titles for your consideration, spread between albums, 12"s and 7"s.

Special mentions in the 12" department go to Michael Boothman's "What You Won't Do For Love" (the rarest version b/w "Waiting For Your Love"), Intrigue's UK only boogie buster "I Like It", the island boogie effort from Kysofusion Band and the Bee-Gees-soundalike (but in a good way!) "Dancing nights" by Fighters.

LPs include Shadow's sought-after "Sweet Dreams" (including the heavy-hitter "Let's Get Together"), classic boogie from Active Force and First Love's self-titled modern soul set from 1981, not to mention the mega obscure Honk Kong only "A Safe Place" by David Ling.

Among the 7"s we find office favorite T Dyson & Co "It's All Over", Carrie Cleveland's off-the-wall crossover doublesider on Audio-Ent, rare sweet soul from Public Notice, equally rare dark-end disco from Angelo & Eighteen ("Flight 2"), banging modern soul/boogie from E.J. Stamp ("I Know All About It") and Holt Brothers on Mae-Monti.

Soul & Funk 45s and LPs!!!

Fine update of 60s & early 70s soul/funk today. Massive amount of 7"s, everything from stone classics by Bettye Swann and Mike James Kirkland to grits 'n' gravy funk and also a few rare picture sleeve issues (Irma Thomas, Mary Wells, Supremes). LP highlights include the rare Turbo original of the On Coming Times album, rare doo wop from Avons on Hull, Willie Hutch's superb "Soul portrait" (including the perennial favorite "Lucky to be loved by you"!) and Frankie Gearing's equally tremendous Japan-only LP. More 60s delight comes in the shape of James Carr's beyond classic deep soul set "A man needs a woman" and Jimmy Hughes' "Steal away", plus a Sam Cooke double-header ("I thank God" and "Hit Kit").

Also worth mentioning some great new reissues and previously unreleased LPs. Bjarne Rostvold's rare trio jazz album "Tricrotism", unissued jazz/fusion from Quintonal, eagerly awaited hip hop from Joey Badass and and a few more copies of JB's "These are the JB's" plus Nohelani Cypriano's "Lihue" (first time on 7").
