25/7 - Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Keith Jarrett, ECM, Steeplechase, Enja...

Less records than normal this week as we are low on staff during holidays. What we do have is a big chunk of records from jazz giants Miles Davis & Chet Baker, many albums from Keith Jarrett, plus lots of titles from the ECM, Steeplechase and Enja labels.

A little soul & funk added too, including the Hi-Five LP and a monster version of "Sex Machine" by the might Rail Band!

To see all records added this week, check our New In Stock section, and make sure to follow us on Facebook to keep yourself up to date.

Only fitting to congratulate Record Mania friend Karl Marthon on his birthday today - what better way to pay tribute to this master fisherman than by listening to his new soul mix - All Girls, All Soul part 3 which can be found in our blog. Strongly endorsed music!

Next week we'll turn to a rock/prog/blues focus.

Enjoy the weekend!

Weekly update 11/7 - Impulse!

This Friday is all about the always reliable Impulse label. Around 100 LPs with great artists like John and Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler and Yusef Lateef.
Impulse-collectors know that these might now fetch the same high prices as Blue Note originals from the same era but often just as strong musically, and the beautiful gatefold covers sure look impressive even when lined up next to each other on your shelf (with the easily recognizable spines).

Weekly Update 4/7 - Hip Hop

Today we shift focus from Blue Note to something completely different - Hip Hop. The amount might not be on par with a regular week (due to summer holidays), but there's no denying there is some serious quality among this week's selection. Golden Era favourites, some Gangsta stuff and some Swedish rarities of course - definitely something for everyone as long as Hip Hop is your thing! If it's not, we do have another base covered with some Disco, Boogie, House and Modern soul records that should be on at least a few want lists.
